On July 9th, 2014, Anudip Foundation awarded its alumni Debasish Pradhan the inaugural Uttam Haldar Memorial Award. The newly introduced award honors the best student from Ramnarayanpur Kalika Sangha (RKS), our NGO-partner from 2010 in the rustic town of Laxmikantapur in of West Bengal. At the award ceremony, Dipak Basu, CEO of Anudip, remembered and honored RKS’s departed founder and secretary. Uttam Haldar’s impact on his community and his encouragement and support for Anudip’s mission. Uttam-babu was killed when the ambulance in which he was taking a pregnant mother to hospital was hit by a truck. He leaves behind his wife and daughters, who have continued his work running the center.
This year’s award recipient Debasish Pradhan’s confidence that he would definitely get a job, helped him secure first a position at a Tech Mahindra BPO, following which he joined iMerit as a data center operator.
